arnoud holleman

Born 1964 in Haarlem, the Netherlands; lives in Amsterdam.
Studied at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, and the Amsterdam Rijksakademie. Teaches at the Gerrit Rietveld Akademie in Amsterdam and the Design Academy Eindhoven.

Citation, borrowing, appropriation, and sampling are the artistic methods used by Arnoud Holleman. He seeks paths outside of the commercial art gallery system and prefers collaborative projects. This enables him to move – using different techniques, talents and a lot of skill – between the worlds of art, theatre, fashion and film. Holleman has written screenplays, produced films, worked in metatheatre, realised art-in-public-space projects and much, much more. To sharpen one's own critical view of living conditions, it is advantageous to be both a participant and an observer of the artistic circles. Holleman is co-publisher of the semi-annual magazine Re-Magazine (Vancouver, BC/Canada) which, since 1997, has dedicated each issue to a breathtaking personality.
